A Typical Patient

Our typical reproductive immunology patient, on average 38.6 years old with a standard deviation of 2 years, has experienced an average of 4.4 unsuccessful attempts at pregnancy. Many of these patients find themselves approaching the end of their reproductive years. However, by carefully analyzing their clinical history and conducting specific laboratory tests, we can often provide successful immune therapies.

Patient Intake Process

There are a number of treatment modalities for patients that are utilized by our center. The most common ones include:

  • IVIg (Intravenous immunoglobulin)
  • Humira/ Amjevita
  • Blood thinners Lovenox or Arixtra
  • Steroids Dexamethasone or Prednisone
  • Intralipid
  • Leukocyte Immunization Treatment

There are other treatments that can be used based on the patient's results and responses to medications.

Self-Referral by a Patient

We kindly request that all laboratory results from the last 12 months be included in your medical records. Additionally, if you have undergone genetic testing, please provide those results as well, regardless of their age, as they remain relevant to your case.

Physician Referral

We no longer accept any letter summarizing patients' records and we do not accept any referral letters with summaries. We also do not send referring physicians any results or patients' treatment plans. We work directly with the patient and the patient is responsible for sharing with their physician as they see fit.

IVIg Treatments

The Alan Beer Medical Center offers outpatient infusion services for Intralipid and Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIg) treatments. The infusions are available to all patients, including individuals who are not enrolled in the Alan Beer Medical Center. Before scheduling an infusion, the patient's physician needs to provide an order specifying the medication type, dose, and frequency.

Orders should be submitted in advance and can be faxed to 408-356-9509. Please note that patients with allergies to eggs or soy products are not eligible for Intralipid infusions.

For IVIg infusions, a current chemistry panel and immunoglobulin panel must be submitted before scheduling the appointment. Infusions are available by appointment only.
